CILIP Rare Books and Special Collections Group Conference 2025

The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals's Rare Books and Special Collections Group 2025 conference takes place September 3-5.

CILIP is the professional body for librarians, information specialists and knowledge managers in the UK, and its Rare Books and Special Collections Group brings together librarians responsible for collections of rare books, manuscripts and special materials, liasing iwth other organisations such as the Antiquarian Booksellers Association.

The conference will take place over three days. Sessions include:

  • Ben Cornish and Grace Touzel (Natural History Museum) - …but our wants are endless: a systematic approach to prioritising rare books metadata creation and management at the NHM, London
  • Ross Melvin (SOAS) - Transforming the SOAS manuscript metadata: approaches to complex catalogue data
  • Christine Megowan (University of Edinburgh) and Katie Birkwood (Royal College of Physicians, London) - Interacting and influencing international standards: Controlled Vocabulary for Rare Materials Cataloging and others
